Compliance

Know when an edited photo needs a digitally altered disclosure.

Some edits change what appears to exist in the space.

That can trigger disclosure requirements.

When disclosure may be required

Examples include:

  • Adding fire to a fireplace

  • Replacing a TV screen

  • Greening a lawn

  • Removing a permanent fixture

What to do

Check your local MLS or governing board before publishing.

Disclosure rules vary by region. Responsibility sits with the listing agent and photographer.

For California guidance, see Digitally Altered (Cal AB 723).
